Chapter 1 Part B

French families are very close knit. It's common for family members to just show up at your house for dinner or to check in on you. French families are very respectful towards their elderly relatives and take care of them as well as they can. My family is close knit, but I wouldn't say that we're extremely close knit. Seeing my extended family is normally a scheduled event, it's not very often that we just show up.We do respect our grandparents and take care of them when needed though. And we do care for and take care of each other when needed as well. Most invitations in french and american cultures have fun pictures on them for the event and they usually have time, date, place and what the event is. I think that the French keep dogs (chiens) and cats (chats) as pets as well. I don't really remember learning about other pets that french people keep, although I'm sure there are others, but I think that dogs and cats are the most common. The french do consider their pets as part of their family though, and I know that a good amount of americans think the same way. That's where we get the term "dog mom" from. The french celebrate All Saint's Day, which is a day where people honor the loved ones and saints they may have lost. They visit cemetaries and put flowers on the graves of thier loved ones. French people also celebrate their saints' birthdays every year. Throwing a Successful At-Home Birthday Party - Berks County Living
