I feel like French cultures have less variety for breakfast foods. They have céréale, crêpe, and un croque monsieur with un café or des us d'orange. There are a lot of American breakfast foods like biscuits and gravy, pancakes, cereal, fried eggs and ham, bacon, oatmeal and much more. We usually do have coffee or some type of fruit based juice with our breakfast as well. American Breakfast: French Breakfast: I'm not entirely sure on this, but I believe that French families emphasize family time by eating lunches and dinners together. Many American families do this as well, but not every family does. In my expereince, religious families tend to eat dinners together more because they tend to do things like pray over their food together and such. In French grocery stores, products are smaller, multipacked -that you can open and take just one out of- and have more fresh options available. Also, their dairy products aren't refirdgerated, which is so wild for an Americ...

Chapter 5A

Dinners at my family's house usually depend on what we have in our pantry or what we afford to go out and buy (I feel like this is common for many families though). Some dinners that we have often is chicken alfredo, fried potatoes and sausage and porkchops with mashed potatoes and corn. Most of our breakfasts are frid eggs with toast or just cereal. Lunches are typically leftovers or whatever you can find to eat. Sometimes I'll go out for lunch, but not very often. There's a small restaurant in my hometown that my family and I like to go to sometimes. We also like to go to Mcdonald's and Taco Bell or Chinese resturants (Chinese restaurants are my favorite!). Our family gatherings or social gatherings in general usually include some sort of food. It's ususally something we can make in large portions like chili or pulled pork. Here's another video of me speaking in French! This time I'm discussing my daily routine.

Chapter 4B

I feel like Americans have busier days than French people do. We work longer hours everyday and have more to spend our time on. I know that we have simliar things like meal breaks and such, but the French just seem to have more leisure time. Military time is not very common where I'm from. I know that nurses and doctors use military time so it's easier to distinguish am from pm on documents and such, but other than that I don't really know of any other place that uses military time regularly. I use the 12hour time clock. This is what I was taught and what makes the most sense to me. I'm from the middle of nowhere Missouri, we don't have fashion events. The closest thing I can think of is prom, where all of the high schoolers dress up in pretty outfits. Prom's an annual event and you usually have to be in high school to participate, unless there's some special exception. Fashion events can boost the economy if lots of people are buying the clothing items ...

Chapter 4A -Daily Routines

I have pretty busy school days. I usually wake up around 6:30am and start getting ready for the day. I shower, brush my teeth, get dressed, fix my hair and put on deoderent and jewlery before I go down for breakfast. Then, I eat breakfast with my roommate and any of our friends that happen to be in the cafeteria. Then I head to my first class of the day, which is usually French class at 8am. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I have two other classes after French. These classes are Logic at 9am and American Women Writers at 10am. After my Americna Women Writers class, I head to Raney to work lunch shift. After my shift, I spend some time doing homework before I go over to RFAB to practice my music and play in band class. I usually eat dinner after band class then I go back up to my suite to do homework for awhile. I usually call it quits on homework around 7:30-8pm. Around this time, I put on my pajamas and play on my phone some or embroider. My boyfriend usually calls around this time...

French vs American Schools

Image
French and American college campuses both have buildings such as residence halls ou résidences, nurses office/wellness center ou l'infirmirie, cafeterias ou la cafétérias and a library ou la bibiliotèque. I believe that most schools have simlar buildings because these buildings are proven to be benefical and neccessary areas for schools. These different buildings give the students a space to do whatever they please, such as reading, eating and just hanging out. At French colleges, students can choose to complete une baccalauréate, une maîtrise, or un doctorate, which are equal to a bachelor's degree, master's degree, and doctorial degree. These students may choose to specialize in one just subject, this is called une spécialization, or they can have a major in something, called une majeur ou une concentration, with a minor in something else, called une mineure. This choice in majoring or specializing resembles American colleges. In America, students are expected to pick a ma...
